Church of S. Maria Assunta
Parish church, imposing on the town also thanks to the slender bell tower, you can admire in all its splendor.
Of baroque shapes, built between 1771 and 1776 on a previous religious construction, of which some gravestones are preserved, dominates the landscape.
From its churchyard, from which you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the rolling hills of the Monferrato, you enter through a walnut portal.
The long nave, the vault, the high altar and the choir have nothing to envy to the cathedrals. The route of the votive chapels gives its name to the districts.
When you reach the altar, turning towards the entrance, you can see the magnificent pipe organ in pure tin on a walnut balcony.
Inside are preserved works of art by Guglielmo Caccia, known as “Il Moncalvo”, Crosio, Alberini, Aliberti and, unusual in these parts, a Museum of sacred art.
The oldest news on the religious history of the place date back to the tenth century; the present small church of S. Maria in Monte Pirano, located near the cemetery, dates back to this period.
It stands in a panoramic position.
