Former Grana Monferrato Castle

We read in the documents of 911 and 955 the existence of the parish church of St. Mary in Grana, confirmed by Emperor Henry III on 26th January 1041 to the church of Asti, whose vast territory bordered to the north with those of Rosignano and Mediliano.

Grana remained under the jurisdiction of that bishop, until 1474 when it was incorporated into the diocese of Casale.

The presence of the parish church underlines the importance of the town, and its castle no longer exists.
